Violeta Bubelytė. VIS – À – VIS

The new publication includes both early and recent works by Violeta Bubelytė. The book is like a dialogue between two Violetas – the early monochrome, often melancholic Violeta, and the present-day, noisy and somewhat ironic Violeta. In this way, the artist’s individual performance in each individual print is combined into a sixty-nine-part thriller. And the viewer is invited on a personal visual adventure.

As Adam Mazur, the author of the essay published in the book, states, “The artist fascinates and enchants the audience. She is magical, and her body and face can be watched for hours. The paintings are like a screen, showing the emotions and feelings of the viewer. One will be impressed, another saddened, a third excited, a fourth annoyed, but no one will remain indifferent. Violeta Bubelytė accepts all emotions and soul stirrings as a compliment. She does not want to accept only one thing: indifference.”
