Vytautas V. Stanionis „Photographs for Documents“
Photographs for Documents consists of photographs taken by his father, also called Vytautas, and reprinted by Vytautas V. Stanionis (1949). These photographs for documents, taken of the inhabitants of Seirijai and the surrounding area, were taken in 1946 when the Soviet authorities changed the passports to Soviet ones. Eighty faces stare straight out at the camera. Anonymous images that once served to prove the identity of a particular person now lose their identity, and become a kind of allegory or metaphor of the postwar destiny.
