Exhibition “85 summers of Antanas Sutkus”. Exhibition catalogue

From 4th July, the exhibition 85 Summers is on show at Vilnius Town Hall, dedicated to the 85th birthday of Antanas Sutkus. Some of the photographs tell the story of what once was, and the black-and-white photography is imbued with vivid and colourful stories and deep emotions. The photographs of Sutkus are a timeless gift, showing and preserving the world of the past and capturing the essence of a bygone era. Sometimes you can almost smell the air in the photographs and feel the warmth. Seen with a sensitive, stylish eye and created with a talent that is hard to grasp, everything revolves around the most important theme – the artist’s beloved Lithuania: his people, his landscape, and his life. This exhibition is organised on the occasion of Antanas Sutkus’ 85th birthday and presents one photograph for each summer of his life, enriched by a few of his own favourite photographs. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with the same title. Most of the works have not been exhibited in Lithuania, having been printed at the time of their creation, often at the very beginning of their careers.
