Catalogue “The Theory of a Naked Body”
Even though selected works reflect Lithuanian authors photography from sixties to early nineties, the exhibition catalogue focuses on the relationship between the photographer and the model.
“In photography, the nude has always been peculiarly mystified. The atmosphere becomes particularly charged when the photographer and the subject are of different genders. While flicking through the genre’s image archive and, one after another, putting into pages the photographers’ works created before the country regained independence, one cannot help but question the validity of these two different intentions – to create an artistic image using a naked body and to see a naked body under the guise of photography.”
